9TH ANNUAL WILDCAT SPLASH-A-THON

Initially, funds will go toward creating a calm and inviting classroom environment so that student will have a safe place that won’t be over-stimulating.  Our classroom is unlike most other classrooms on campus.  We try to minimize the use of overhead fluorescent lighting and introduce calming sounds such as the sound of water and other white noises to block intrusive sounds from outside like loud students or lawn mowers.  We also hope to add other items to meet students’ sensory needs.

In addition to these things, it is my hope that we can arrange for at least two field trips, and possibly invite guest speakers/ambassadors to visit our class.  I would love to be able to give the students new experiences that are unique.  From exploring the cosmos with astronomy experts and to being introduced to new animal friends where we can ask ALL the questions and even touch the animals if we want to.  Our students are very curious and love to have their questions answered with facts.  These activities could create life-long passions and allow them to experience something new.

Lastly, we would use any remaining funds to celebrate milestones throughout the year with small celebrations.
